Cellulite
at 111 Harley St. London

Unsightly lumpy, bumpy cellulite affects over 90% of women.

Many women every year spend their money on creams, lotions and potions that promise great results but deliver very few.  Unfortunately, in reality, applying a lotion to the surface of the skin will never achieve the desired outcome of dimple free thighs.  The congested tissue that is causing the dimpled appearance is  far deeper in the tissue than a cream will penetrate.

What is cellulite mesotherapy and does it actually work?

Mesotherapy was originally pioneered by the French physician, Dr. Michel Pistor in 1945. Since its introduction, it has gained widespread attention for the treatment of medical conditions and more recently, for cosmetic purposes. Mesotherapy involves using a tiny needle to inject small amounts of homeopathic medicine beneath the surface of the skin. This breaks down cellulite and improves circulation. The addition of Vitamin C to the mixture encourages the tone and quality of the overlying skin.

Mesotherapy softens and breaks up the network of tight connective tissue fibers that trap swollen fat cells and result in bumpy cellulite.  It softens this fat which is then moved away by the increased circulation in the area.

That is why Mesotherapy actually works.  We are placing the product directly into the cellulite tissue and letting it work from within.

You and your cellulite:

The medical term for cellulite is Dermatomyoliposclerosis (DMLS).  Cellulite commonly appears on the hips, buttocks and legs; however mesotherapy can be used on all areas of the body including the top of the arm.  Fat cells are arranged in chambers surrounded by connective tissue called septae.  As water is retained, fat cells held within the perimeters of this area expand and stretch the connective tissue. Eventually this connective tissue contracts and hardens (a process called sclerosis) holding the skin at a non-flexible length, while the surrounding tissue continues to expand with weight, or water gain. This results in areas of the skin being held down while other sections bulge outward, resulting in the dreaded lumpy “orange peel” appearance.

In women, fat cells on the lower part of the body store fat six times more readily than those on the upper body.  They also release them six times less readily.

The treatment:

A minimum course of Mesotherapy (e.g. a mild case of cellulite in a small area) is 10 sessions.  These are normally performed as 2 sessions per week.  Mesotherapy can provide long lasting and measurable improvements.  These improvements are of course maintained by a healthier approach to eating.

Your treatment may be carried out immediately after an initial consultation.  It takes about an hour to complete.  Some people find that the vitamins injected can make them feel a little lightheaded for a few minutes after treatment so we encourage you to sit with us and have a cup of tea to relax before you leave.   We can recommend Mesotherapy for all types of cellulite.

Are there any side effects?

A common side effect of Mesotherapy is bruising, which generally resolves after a week.  Mesotherapy can be a little uncomfortable in some areas, but not painful.  It is best to avoid contact with the sun or extremes of heat directly after treatment.
