Treatment Options

While prevention is ultimately the best way to protect your skin from photo-ageing, there are several non-surgical treatment options that can minimise the damage and work towards synthesising collagen production to restore firmness and plump out fine lines and wrinkles. In combination with skin peels and skin brightening facials, you can expect to see an improvement in the ageing effects of sun damage like sagging, wrinkles and pigmentation.

Dermal Filler

Dermal Fillers

While prevention is ultimately the best way to protect your skin from photo-ageing, there are several non-surgical treatment options that can minimise the damage and work towards synthesising collagen production to restore firmness and plump out fine lines and wrinkles. In combination with skin peels and skin brightening facials, you can expect to see an improvement in the ageing effects of sun damage like sagging, wrinkles and pigmentation.

Approximately 15-30 minutes, depending on the number of areas. Numbing cream will require an additional 20 minutes to apply before treatment.

You may experience redness, bruising and swelling following your treatment which should subside within 1-3 days.

Filler dissolves naturally over time. Your aesthetician will discuss the associated risks and side effects with you during your consultation.

Other side effects and risks include:

  • Pain
  • Tenderness
  • Firmness, lumps and bumps – lumps and bumps can often be massaged out and will settle within a week or two of treatment. For massaging instructions, you should consult your aesthetician. If the bumps remain, you may desire to have the bump dissolved.
  • Itching
  • Dryness – relatively common after lip fillers.
  • Tyndall effect causes a blue tinge that is visible through the skin and can occur as a complication of tear trough fillers. This effect is more likely to present itself if the patient has particularly thin skin, or if the filler is placed too superficially under the skin.
  • Blindness- It’s more likely to occur when injected into areas like the nose.
  • Tissue death – More likely to in injectable areas like the naso lines or nose.
  • Scarring
  • Scabbing
  • Infection

Dermal fillers are non-permanent with results lasting between 4-9 months depending on your metabolism and the type of filler. Lip fillers tend to break down slightly faster, lasting between 3-6 months. Some filler types offer more permanency, lasting up to a year. Longevity varies from patient to patient.

You may experience swelling and bruising around the injection site which should subside with a week.

Profhilo

Profhilo

Profhilo is an injectable hyaluronic acid treatment that works by synthesising two types of collagen that are lost through sun damage. As it spreads through the skin, it gives the skin back it’s glow-giving plumpness and improves its condition. This treatment is suitable for crepey and lax skin on the face, neck, chest and hands.

Profhilo is a suitable treatment for those who are looking for a treatment that will provide revitalisation, radiance and hydration, and a smoother skin surface.

As the formulation synthesises collagen and boosts elasticity, it can also reduce wrinkles, tighten the skin and give a subtle lifting enhancement. It’s suitable for all skin tones and skin types.

Unlike other filler types that build volume, or plump out lines, Profhilo has a smoother consistency that spreads evenly. You could think of it like an injectable serum, that disperses Hyaluronic acid so that you can take advantage of its hydrating benefits.

As the hyaluronic acid spreads, it stimulates four different types of collagen and elastin. In doing so, it helps to smooth lines and wrinkles and tighten the skin. The moisture-binding injectable also keeps the skin dewy and plump.

The cell-regenerative effect improves the overall condition, quality and texture of your skin.

You could expect to see skin remodelling within 2-3 treatments.

Once a month for the first 2-3 sessions, then between 3-6 months for any maintenance treatments.

Results will improve with each treatment and can last 28 days or more. With the boost in hyaluronic acid, you could expect to benefit from an increase in collagen that lasts for several months after your treatment.

Soft Thread Lift

Soft Thread Lift

A soft thread can elevate the skin and lift sagging facial tissues that have migrated due to the ageing effects of sun damage. The absorbable threads help to support the skin, while also stimulating and continually replenishing collagen levels over two years. The non-surgical facelift will firm the skin and alleviate signs of ageing, particularly in the lower face like the nasolabial lines and premature jowling.

At 111 Harley St., our highly-experienced, qualified and certified Doctors or nurses will perform your procedure.

The process begins with a thorough consultation, where we will discuss your aesthetic concerns and devise a unique thread-lift plan. The soft thread lift requires a local anaesthesia which allows for a faster recovery time and carries less risks than general anaesthesia. We carry out the operation in our own Harley St. theatre, which offers convenience and has the highest standards of hygiene and patient safety.

Temporary markings will indicate the lifting direction and entrance site of the threads.

Bio directional PDO threads are the first threads that we use and insert through a cannula or micro-needle. Following this, we may also use uni-directional threads to treat the neck, jawline, marionette and nasolabial folds. They are beneficial for creating a more natural contouring effect. The nurse or Doctor will then remove the cannula, and the threads remain in place.

The threads will form a semi-permanent support structure for the face with the lifting effect at a peak around six months later. The results last approximately 18 months but vary from patient to patient.

The procedure usually takes around 45-60 minutes, depending on the size of the area and the number of threads.

An ageing face can manifest itself in several ways; sagging, wrinkles, loss of volume are some indications we might expect to see. The elasticity and collagen depletion can change the shape of the face and its support structure. Some of the earlier signs (after changes in skin texture) are lower facial sagging, premature jowls and brow ptosis.

A soft thread lift will introduce PDO threads through a cannula. The skin grips to the barbs or cones on the thread. The biodegradable threads form a support structure that work to lift, contour and tighten sagging skin through stimulating the body’s natural regenerative process.

By provoking the body’s natural healing response, the procedure promotes the growth of new collagen which surround the filaments, giving the skin a rejuvenated appearance, that progressively enhances over a year.

Botox

Botox

Due to sun damage, wrinkles and fine lines can become more prominent, particularly lines around the eyes and the furrows between the brows that worsen when we squint or frown in sunlight. The muscle-easing treatment will relax the wrinkles and lines on the forehead, around the eyes and between the brows that we see with sun damage.

The process begins with a consultation where we will discuss your reason for treatment and determine whether you are a suitable candidate.

The practitioner will make a series of injections to administer the substance. We can apply a topical anaesthetic to minimise discomfort. The unit will vary depending on the size of the area and the severity of the concern. You may feel a very slight scratch as the injections enter the skin.

In some cases, the nurse may inject a lower dosage than initially expected – this is standard practice when treating forehead wrinkles, particularly if you have a small forehead. It is essential to assess how your muscles react to the treatment to avoid eyebrow or eyelid drooping. Your nurse will discuss a follow-up appointment to administer the rest of the Botox.

Botox treats wrinkles by targeting the underlying muscle that wrinkles the overlying skin. It restricts the contraction of the muscle, so the overlying skin appears smooth. By inhibiting this movement, the toxin can create many other positive aesthetic effects or have health benefits.

It can take up to 2 weeks to see the full effect of Botox depending on the size of the area treated and the condition. For Botox to the masseter, it can take four weeks, and calf muscles can take six weeks before you see results.

The permanency varies from patient to patient, but usually, Botox starts to wear off after around 12 weeks. Its longevity also depends on the strength of the muscle.

ClearLift laser treatment

ClearLift

The laser treatment ClearLift delivers energy into the dermis, where signs of sun damage are prevalent. Through dispersing the energy, the treatment repairs the cellular damage that occurs in the skin cells, encouraging them to remodel to address fine lines, spider veins, crepiness and pigmentation. The treatment also prompts collagen and elastin – the two vital proteins that give skin firmness and support.

During your consultation, one of our certified laser aestheticians will assess your suitability for treatment and discuss your treatment goals and conditions.

This treatment is painless, and the aesthetician will make a few passes over the treatment area with a hand-held device. You may feel a slight warm zap in sensitive areas. You will require several treatment sessions to benefit from the optimal effects that ClearLift offers.

The treatment takes from around 20 minutes to an hour.

The Clearlift Treatment uses Harmony XL Pro laser and a fractional Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser with near infrared technology. The device disperses pixelated energy at a depth of 3mm into the skin to create a controlled process of damaging and healing. This triggers the skin to remodel itself without causing visible damage to the surface layers.

We recommend 4-6 treatment sessions.

Skin Peel

Chemical skin peels

When laser treatment isn’t suitable, chemical skin peels can be used to gradually fade the early signs of sun damage such as patches of pigmentation, sun spots, rough skin texture and uneven skin tone. Depending on the severity of the sun damage, a serious of skin peels can regenerate the skin through chemical compounds. The strength and chemical combination varies depending on the aesthetic concerns and patient suitability.

The treatment begins with a consultation where your practitioner will assess your skin to decipher your skin conditions and the best course of treatment.

Certain peels like Cosmelan or Enerpeel may require skin preparation with the use of at-home products in the lead up to your appointment. Your practitioner will prescribe a list of recommended products that will be suitable for you or provide you with the appropriate preparation kit.

If we’re treating you with a Cosmelan peel, we’ll require you to use a prepping de-pigmentation kit before your initial treatment to prepare your skin for the peel.

During your treatment, your practitioner will double cleanse and prepare the skin by applying a barrier cream around sensitive areas and remove all sebum to aid penetration of the acids.

Following this, we will apply the peel of choice and leave it on for a few minutes before neutralising or removing the peel. A neutraliser will prevent the acid from working on the skin, whereas a removal wipe will leave the acid active on the skin to continue improving the complexion following treatment.

Chemical skin peels are suitable for anyone who is looking for overall skin rejuvenation and an improvement in skin tone and texture. Or, those who have:

  • Acne
  • Acne scars
  • Pigmentation and sun-spots
  • Mild actinic keratosis
  • Moderate wrinkles or fine lines
  • Rosacea
  • Large or open pores
  • Crepey skin

The duration of the treatment will depend on your custom needs. Some peels may be left on for longer, depending on your needs and tolerance to treatment. Typically, it’ll take around 30 minutes.

Chemical skin peels vary in strength and substance and are either superficial, medium or deep depending on your skin concerns and skin type.

The acids and other active compounds react with the skin and dissolve the outermost layers of the skin to reveal a fresher, clearer and brighter complexion. Chemical skin peels also promote collagen and elastin growth that will encourage the growth of healthier skin.

PRP

PRP Therapy

Collagen and elastin keep the skin looking youthful and plump. However, exposure to harmful UV rays can degrade collagen levels—Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy, aka. PRP therapy or the vampire facial can increase the growth of healthier skin and stem cells to boost collagen levels and elasticity through using the patient’s own blood, which is re-injected back into the dermis.

You can opt for a topical numbing cream that we apply around 40 minutes before treatment to minimise discomfort.

The nurse will collect your blood through a vein on your arm, which is spun in a centrifuge. This filtration system separates the red blood cells, white blood cells, and plasma.

Following this, the nurse will then re-inject the platelet-rich plasma with a series of micro-injections into the treatment areas at varying depths, with different needle tips. The treatment works very well for facial rejuvenation, but PRP can also treat an ageing neck and décolletage. It’s very effective for reducing wrinkles and improving texture in delicate areas where the skin is particularly fragile or thin like around the eyes or on the neck and chest.

A final syringe of the platelet-rich plasma is spread over the surface of the complexion like a serum for optimal absorption.

You should expect to see immediate results, but we recommend maintenance sessions to benefit from optimal results.

PRP takes approximately 30 minutes – 1 hour.

Through PRP therapy, we will collect proteins, platelets, and red blood cells. When we inject the skin (or damage the skin in any other way), it triggers the body’s damage control processes that cause an influx of growth factors to repair and treat the area. By concentrating platelets and re-injecting them, you can expect to see up to five times the amount of growth factors in comparison.

The platelet-rich fibrin matrix amplifies the healing processes and helps to control inflammation, speed up the regeneration of skin tissues and boost collagen production for better quality skin.
The overall result is a plumper, smoother and rejuvenated complexion.

Meostherapy

Mesotherapy

A combination of amino acids, hyaluronic acid and vitamins within the injectable mesotherapy treatment neutralises the harmful effects of free radicals and sun damage. The injection renews the dermis and epidermis and increases growth factors to restore the suppleness of the skin.

Mesotherapy is an injectable treatment that delivers a custom combination of skin-enhancing ingredients to your complexion.

During your consultation, we will discuss your skin concerns to determine which formulation the nurse will administer through your Mesotherapy treatment. It will usually contain a blend of hyaluronic acid, vitamins and amino acids.

Before your treatment, we may apply a topical numbing cream to your skin.

Through a series of fine injections, a bespoke blend of peptides, growth factors and antioxidants are delivered into the mesoderm (the middle layer of the skin) from between 1-4mm beneath your skin to improve skin quality and function.

This treatment takes approximately 30 minutes – 1 hour.

The skin’s barrier function plays a vital role in protecting your skin from environmental aggressors such as pollutants, UV damage and irritants. When working optimally, your skin counteracts the harmful free radical damage that scavenges your healthy skin cells. However, with natural ageing, sun damage and other external forces, your skin cell barrier function weakens.

Lipids made up of cholesterol, ceramides, and fatty acid form the barrier to prevent microrganisms and irritants entering the skin and protect it from Transepidermal water loss. When the skin barrier is weak, the skin can become dry, irritated and inflamed.

Mesotherapy is one way to encourage the restoration of your skin cell barrier function and restore your natural moisturising factors, to help bring your skin back to optimal health.

With over 60 different ingredient combinations, we can adapt the Mesotherapy to your skin’s needs. With an efficient transportation system and a surge in skin-loving ingredients, skin cell function improves, and the skin repair barrier becomes more resilient to environmental aggressors and other ageing factors.

Generally, a patient will need around ten sessions to see optimal results. The number of treatments required will vary from patient to patient, depending on the patient’s skin concerns.

These sessions are usually weekly for the first month, every two weeks over the second month, and sporadically from then onwards depending on how your skin responds to treatment.

Rachael has really looked after me from start to finish. My skin tone has improved so much and the small dark pigment bits from the sun are starting to fade from this laser. ADVATx is my new favourite as I can see results and it does not hurt while having like some others that I have tried. 5 stars for this clinic

    Roz

I have had 3 of the new laser and my skin feels plumper. I will do a second course to keep working on the sun damage but I happy with the progress so far.

    Roz

My skin has improved so much with x 3 ADVATx. The tone is more even and the redness hasn’t come back yet. The sunscreen they apply post-treatment is the best I have ever used. All the staff are lovely when I arrive to the clinic and I always feel very welcomed.

    Carolina

Today I had my first treatment for sun spots with Rachael at 111 Harley St. and she made me feel at ease even though I had to wear googles for the treatment which I struggle with, her soothing, calm tone and constant reassurance eased me. My experience today has been 5 star.

    Suzy

I am impressed with my first IPL/DYE VL with Rachael, she was able to clear two of the sun damaged areas. I have a course of 4 and I can see how dramatic the results will be. Thank you Rachael
