The Preservation Rhinoplasty, also known as an ‘ultrasonic Rhinoplasty’, is revolutionising traditional Rhinoplasty and all because of the use of one innovative tool: a Piezo. A Piezo is an ultra-fine instrument that emits ultrasonic energy directly to the bone to create a less invasive transformation. As the name suggests, this type of Rhinoplasty works to preserve the nose as much as possible and does not use more invasive mechanical tools.
Using unique surgical techniques, the Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty works inside the nostrils, meaning any incisions made will be hidden inside the nose. Two of the biggest benefits of this procedure are that one, the concern of scarring will be significantly lower and two, the procedural length is significantly shorter than a classic Rhinoplasty (usually only around 60 minutes).
During the procedure, there is less structural modification and the ultrasonic waves do not comprise blood supply or nerves, which means better healing and minimal scarring ensues.
Some of the biggest benefits of the Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty are:
The main difference between Open and Closed Rhinoplasties are in invasiveness. While an Open Rhinoplasty offers the surgeon increased access to the total structure of the nose, it can help them to create a greater result. However, this often means that recovery time will be extended. Closed Rhinoplasty or Preservation Rhinoplasty, on the other hand, does the opposite.
The two traditional types of Rhinoplasties techniques are Open and Closed, however at 111 Harley St., we also offer a vast range of other types of Rhinoplasties that can be performed using an open or closed methodology to help you achieve the best result. During your consultation, Dr Yannis will decide on a case-on-case basis which he feels would be more appropriate based on your goals and under closer examination of the nose.
Dr Yannis has been a practising surgeon for over twenty years, so you can be assured of his finesse and expertise.
Most of these Rhinoplasty procedures can be performed as Open or Closed but will be confirmed during consultation.
Reduction Rhinoplasty / Nose Reduction
This surgery aims to reduce the overall size and volume of the nose. Reducing the size of the nose can dramatically improve the proportions and visual harmony of the face. The approach to surgery usually involves reducing the size of the nostrils, and we’ll also resolve irregularities and bumps on the bridge of the nose if necessary.
Augmentation Rhinoplasty
Augmentation Rhinoplasty involves altering the nose to improve its shape. This approach would be suitable for patients who feel that their nose lacks definition, length, or has an undesirable shape. It’s also suitable for those with congenital abnormalities. This surgery enhances and augments the nose by using autogenous tissues or a silicone implant. The surgeon may also decide to perform bone grafting on the nose to recreate the tip.
Alar Reduction
Alar Base Reduction focuses on the width of the base of the nose and nostrils – often nicknamed by patients as a ‘Wide Nose Rhinoplasty’. During this procedure, Dr Yannis will narrow the width of the nostril base to encourage a slimmer front and side nasal profile – depending on what you think is desirable.
Tip Refinement
During a nose tip surgery, Dr Yannis will target the nasal tip, which is ideal for anyone looking for a subtle, but lasting aesthetic change or transformation. A tip rhinoplasty works with the lower third of the nose, preserving the rest of the nasal structure and would be best for anyone looking to diminish the appearance of a large or bulbous nasal tip.
Post-Trauma Rhinoplasty
Our Post-Trauma Rhinoplasty procedure addresses previous trauma to a nose with structural damage. Most suitable for a person whose nose has changed in shape or asymmetry from an earlier accident. During this procedure, your surgeon will help rebuild the nose to restore its original appearance.
Revision Rhinoplasty
A corrective operation inspired by Dr Yannis’ extensive experience in Reconstructive and Craniofacial Surgery which would be ideal for patients with severe injuries and congenital abnormalities.
Septorhinoplasty
A septorhinoplasty reshapes your nose and your septum (the cartilage that divides the two nostrils inside the nose). It can alter the appearance of your nose and improve breathing difficulties. This type of surgery addresses both aesthetic and medical concerns.
Septoplasty
A septoplasty does not address cosmetic concerns, but instead, corrects a deviated septum and improves the nasal passages which can improve breathing and prevent snoring. It’s less invasive than other rhinoplasty procedures when performed on its own, but many patients opt to combine it with other techniques to improve the appearance nose.
