Cosmetic Tattooing

At 111 Harley St., we offer both microblading or micropigmentation depending on your cosmetic concerns.

Micropigmentation is performed using a medical makeup machine with an ultra-fine needle specifically designed to implant droplets of pigment into the dermal layer of the skin. This treatment is also known as permanent makeup or cosmetic tattooing and can enhance the pigment of the eyebrows or create a shaded, ombre effect to them.

Microblading replicates hair-like strokes with a small blade and is another option for mimicking the look of the eyebrows.

Cosmetic tattooing has many uses, including:

• Eyebrow micro-pigmentation or microblading– We can improve the shape, colour and size of the brows with different techniques and effects like powder brows, ombre, and a natural hair stroke effect. Those who over pluck their brows or have fairer eyebrows may also benefit from this treatment.

Most patients are suitable for micropigmentation. Those that have contagious illnesses, poor blood healing conditions and pregnancy are unsuitable for this treatment.

Our aestheticians have a profound knowledge of how pigment affects the skin, and how to shade match to suit different skin tones. The approach to treatment will vary according to your needs but aims to improve your cosmetic concern by adding pigment to the skin.

Results last up to 1-2 years and in some cases can last up to 3 years. However, we advise patients to repeat the treatment to maintain the results.

The results are instant, but it will take around 4-6 weeks for the final colour and effect to show.

You’ll usually require 1-3 treatments.The number of treatments will depend on your treatment programme and cosmetic concerns. Every patient will have a compulsory top-up treatment within 4 – 6 weeks after the initial treatment. The results may be implicated if the patient doesn’t turn up to the appointment.

The patient should allow 10-14 days downtime to allow the area to heal. In this time, the patient should keep the area clean and moisturise with the aftercare products provided.

The treatment time depends on the area and condition. It usually takes between 2 – 3 hours.

Cosmetic tattooing (micro-pigmentation) differs from microblading. Both treatments can alter the look of the eyebrows, but cosmetic tattooing uses a machine to implant pigment under the skin allowing the patient to achieve a more natural ombre (faded) look and can also create thicker the illusion of eyebrows. Micro-pigmentation also has a wider array of uses such as improving the look of hair loss.

We’ll apply a topical numbing cream to minimise discomfort, and most patients find the treatment comfortable.
